SmartPipe takes a step towards sustainability with new multilayer containers

SmartPipe updates 20-liter containers to containers made from recycled plastic

SmartPipe is transitioning to a greener business by replacing its current 20-liter containers with a more sustainable alternative. The new capsule is made in Finland.

The EU tightened plastic packaging legislation in 2024 as part of its efforts to reduce packaging waste and promote a circular economy. New regulations impose stricter requirements on recyclability, reusability and the use of recycled material, which pushes companies towards more sustainable packaging solutions. SmartPipe’s transition to new multilayer capsules is in line with these goals.

The change significantly reduces SmartPipe’s environmental footprint, as more than 10,000 capsules are delivered per year. The new multi-layer CoEx6 capsules, made from recycled HDPE plastic, reduce the carbon footprint by up to 66% compared to traditional single-layer plastic capsules. The new UN-approved capsules are lighter and more efficient, improving usability. The innovative design prevents leaks, minimizes contamination risks and ensures optimal durability.

The change is an important step in SmartPipe’s ongoing journey towards more sustainable production and logistics. There is still work to be done, but SmartPipe is committed to developing its business and making its business as sustainable as possible.
