The 365-metre Icon of the Seas uses SmartPipe dispensing technology

Icon of the Seas is the world’s largest cruise ship

The world’s largest cruise ship, Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas, sailed on Wednesday 29.11. From Turku Shipyard. 🛳 The 365-metre vessel’s first destination is Cadiz, Spain, and then on to Miami.

The luxury cruise liner, which cost more than a billion euros, was handed over on Monday to Royal Caribbean, the company that ordered it. Icon of the Seas has been a huge project for Turku Shipyard and has also provided plenty of work in Finland.

The shipbuilding of the future will focus on zero emissions and sustainable solutions.

We are very proud that the world’s largest cruise ship is using SmartPipe’s intelligent dispensing technology. Automating the use of cleaning chemicals is a significant cost benefit and environmental benefit for the ship.

We develop different types of solutions for biological wastewater treatment systems for ships. With the help of the products, equipment can be started and maintained cost-effectively and faster than with traditional so-called seeding methods.

Ask Mikko Eskola, our Development Director, for more information on cleaner shipping.
