An office building in Helsinki eliminated moth flies
When drain flies were discovered in a large office and commercial building in central Helsinki in the fall of 2024 and traditional pest control methods were ineffective, SmartPipe was given the opportunity to initiate biological pipe maintenance using a sewer treatment agent tailored to control flies. The insects quickly spread to the empty floors of the building and were also observed in the building's rental and commercial spaces.

During the first few months, the number of flies decreased significantly and the control was also extended to the other side of the block, where more insects were observed.

A surprisingly common indoor pest is the silverfish (Lepisma saccharina), which thrives in damp and warm areas. Silverfish feed on starch, sugar, cellulose and proteins, and thrive in areas where organic waste accumulates in pipes – the problem can also be a sign of structural moisture or sewer damage.
SmartPipe's control solution is also effective against silverfish. We have had excellent treatment results on our properties where there have been problems with silverfish.

A biological pipe maintenance agent combats moth flies and waste-related problems
BioTroop FlyBye is a pipe maintenance product designed to control moth flies, drain flies, and other insects. The substance dosed into the pipes eliminates suitable living conditions for insects — it breaks the surface tension of water and decomposes grease-based waste accumulated in the pipes. The solution contains microbes that selectively use grease and oil waste entering the drainage pipes as their nutrient source.
